Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
A&E's Storage Wars: Texas is adding two new faces during this season's premier on Wednesday at 8, both of whom are local businesswomen. Mary Padian of Mary's Finds on Market Center Boulevard and Jenny Grumbles of Uptown Country Home on Milton Avenue join RiverRegency proprietor and colorful Storage Wars veteran Morris "Dr. Moe" Prigoff to beef up the show's Dallas constituency.
A passionate "upcycler," Grumbles' strategy is to focus on storage units that other buyers ignore and turn a profit through design ingenuity. Grumbles is also a studio artist whose paintings are for sale in her shop.
Dumpster diver extraordinaire Padian is known for unconventional techniques, often finding treasures in others' cast-offs. She says that great -- and unique -- design is available at every budget, and her motto is, "work hard, stay humble."
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
