Despite all our rage, our inner angsty teenaged selves are pretty damn excited by this announcement. Just imagine all the beautiful people who will come out to see Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson share the stage at Gexa Energy Pavilion this July for arguably the hottest summer show of 1996 -- uh, we mean 2015. (Hey, whatever. '90s goth is timeless, which is why we always think that today is the greatest.)

Being a fan of Billy Corgan isn't always the easiest, we'll grant it. He has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth, be a blow hard and, well, start up projects like Zwan. But just because we sometimes catch ourselves pretending that he stopped making music after "1979" doesn't mean we aren't still excited to see the avowed cat-lover bring the Pumpkins back to town. The last time he was here, in fact, was back in 2013.

Throw Manson into the mix and it's like we get to relive the old days of Lollapalooza. We just had the privilege earlier this month of catching Alice Cooper live and in person (or is it undead?), and the two obviously share a lot in common -- not least of which being that both write some truly catchy, smart rock 'n' roll music. And when he's not making makeup-less appearances on Eastbound & Down, he still puts on a perfectly over-the-top live show.

As far as double bills go, this ranks right up there with Courtney Love joining Lana Del Rey this spring. In fact, the two tours would make for one hell of a street fight, or at least a really self-important social-media spat between Corgan and Love.

The tour, dubbed "The End Times," is part of the Pumpkins' promotional run for last year's Monuments to an Elegy. (Credit where it's due: Corgan has never lost his knack for overwrought titles, God bless him.) The Dallas stop happens on July 15. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at thesmashinpumpkins.com and marilynmanson.com.
