The Dallas Chocolate Festival is upping the movie food stakes with a screening of "Bean to Bar: A Film About Artisan Chocolate." There will be cocoa cocktails courtesy of Solbeso, wine and chocolate pairings from Glazers and Chocolate Secrets, bites from FT33/Filament, freshly popped kernels from Crave Popcorn and even a chocolate-lover's concession stand. A Q&A session with the documentary's producer and two of the film's featured chocolate makers will follow the screening. Tickets are $35 per person.

You don't have to be a blonde to run in the Deep Ellum Brewing Co.''s Dallas Blonde 5K. The only requirements here are that you pony up $35 for registration and enjoy chasing physical activity with beer. Runners who complete the Deep Ellum course will be treated to two cans each of DEBC's Dallas Blonde.

On Saturday, local and national chocolate artisans will be out in full force at the Dallas Chocolate Festival. There will, of course, be lots of chocolate-consumption going on, but you can also participate in classes or watch demonstrations by Madame Cocoa herself. This outdoor beer orgy will feature over 400 beers, of which you get to try 12 2-ounce samples for $45 ($55 day-of.) If that leaves you feeling sad about the other 388 beers then just remember that additional sampling cards will be available for purchase. Let us guess: you don't like okra. Yeah, neither does anyone else. But somehow this benefit cookoff has made it to year five. Oh wait, we know how. Because it's got okra dishes to taste, live music, free local beer, and it's got people that know their way around this much-maligned vegetable, all vying for "Okrapalooza Champion of the World."
