Fire Closes POT Baked Potato Bar; Aims To Reopen Wednesday

A kitchen fire put one of our Top 100 restaurants out of commission this weekend. Be sure to go visit as soon as they reopen.

Update: POT Baked Potato Bar has reopened since this fire. Thankfully.

One of our favorite culinary discoveries of 2024 was Sheena Marie Scott’s POT Baked Potato Bar in South Dallas. On Saturday, Scott posted on Instagram: “Due to a fire in the kitchen, we will have to temporarily shut down operations. Thankfully, no one was hurt. We look forward to serving you again.”

We contacted Scott about the incident, and she informed us that it was a small fire and, most importantly, that "Everyone is good.”

Scott anticipates reopening on Wednesday.

POT Baked Potato Bar, located just south of downtown Dallas, forever redefined our age-old idea of the humble baked potato. At The POT, you can find baked potatoes topped with Buffalo-sauced grilled chicken (The Texas Buffalo), grilled ribeye and mushrooms (Meat Me At The POT), salmon and jumbo shrimp in Cajun crawfish cream sauce (Sea Pot), and our personal favorite, The Chop Pot (beautifully seared and marinated lamb chops over a bed of melted cheese and topped with The POT Cajun cream sauce).

Scott, who was featured on NBC 5 just days before the incident, said on the segment that one of her favorite baked potatoes at The POT is the Taco-ato (seasoned ground beef, tomato, onion, black olives, jalapeno, scallions and sour cream on a bed of cheese topped with The POT signature seasoning). We can vouch for this one.

In addition to Scott’s mind-blowing baked potato creations, they offer some of the best craft lemonades you’ll find anywhere (like the ultra-refreshing blueberry mint lemonade) and all-natural juices that Scott calls “nature’s body fuel.”

Any time a restaurant has to close, even for a few days, it's hard to recover, so place your online order as soon as they reopen. And go hungry.
