The stretch of Cedar Springs between the Dallas North Tollway and Oak Lawn Avenue — known colloquially as the Strip or Dallas' robust gayborhood filled with LGBT-owned and LGBT-friendly businesses — is about to get a new but familiar taco spot: Taqueria La Ventana.
The fast-casual local taco joint opens its latest location April 11, at 3847 Cedar Springs Road in the old Cafe Brazil, according to a press release. The 1,653-square-foot restaurant "will have a cool, eclectic design using the unique bones of the existing structure" and a 1,200-square-foot dog-friendly patio.
Owners are working to integrate into the tight-knit neighborhood by partnering with the GLBT Chamber of Commerce to host several benefits this month: one for Lambda Legal on April 18 and one for Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS on April 21, with more fundraisers in the works, according to chef Nico Sanchez.
You can expect a menu similar to those at other locations, with "more than 10 meat and veggie options to fill tacos, burritos, bowls and salads," according to the release, along with Mexican craft beer, margaritas, Mexican sodas and housemade churros. The restaurant will be open from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, clearly catering to the crowds who patronize Cedar Springs' many bars and clubs.
