It's the 48th year for the Fort Worth Greek Festival, which is really saying something. Festivals age at a much faster rate than people, making Greek Fest about 432 in human years. How has it stuck around? Maybe it's the great food. Over a dozen vendors, with such offerings as spanakopita and moussaka, are scheduled to attend. The festival will also offer cooking demos, cultural exhibits, live music and folk dancing. General admission is $1. Food will be available for purchase either a la carte or by the plate.

Local advocacy group Go Oak Cliff will host this two-day event at Kidd Springs Park. On Friday, over 30 teams of highly trained, super expert, top-notch barbecue artisans will gather to sacrifice a barnyard's worth of mammals to the Smoky Goodness God. Basically, they'll prep for the competition while Kirk Thurmond plays live music and revelers partake in the beer and wine garden. Picnics are encouraged. The main event is on Saturday, which kicks off the Dallas 'Stache Dash 5k benefiting the Movember Foundation. A $20 wristband gets you access to barbecue tasting and subsequent barbecue voting, which begins at 1 p.m.

The Brewer's Ball is just like the one Cinderella went to, but with less ill-fitting footwear and more craft beer. If you drink enough, however, you can definitely find Prince Charming. Ball-goers will have the opportunity to hobnob with the best our local craft brewery scene has to offer: Around 40 breweries will be represented at the ball, either by way of a founder, owner and/or brewmaster. Drink and dine the night away, with bites provided by Braindead, Easy Slider, LUCK, Meddlesome Moth, Malai Kitchen and more. Tickets are $125 per person.

Participants run for a 1/4 mile, drink a beer and repeat three times until they reach the finish line or become so disgusted with their life choices that they give up and sit on the side of the track, a heaping, sweaty mass of human doubt. But if you do finish, there's an open bar at the end and a dance party. Tickets start at $55.

The fourth annual Dallas Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival will take place this Saturday at Addison Airport (not on the tarmac, we promise.) Meat Fight 2015 is sold out, but there's a consolation event for those of you who don't get to go that involves pie. Lots and lots of pie. No, not the math kind that makes your brain wrinkle, but the flaky, golden brown variety. For just $5, you can sample all manner of pies: fruit, nut, chocolate, custard and savory. Vote for your favorites and then go pick up a copy of The Pie Bible, because this event is held at Half Price Books.
