If Dallas were to get a most improvement award, it would definitely be awarded in the late-night eats category. Just a few years ago, your only options after midnight were sketchy tacos. Now your options are sketchy tacos that taste better than your previous sketchy taco options, plus a whole lot more.

If you've just searched for this, you're likely drunk, hungry and impatient. Scroll downward to fill that ever-growing hole in your soul. And for the love of God, Uber it.

Velvet Taco (pictured above) Say what you want about those gringo tacos, Velvet Taco remains the undisputed king of late-night dining in Dallas. This place is consistently mobbed with drunks after midnight, and they're doing so well a second location opened in Fort Worth. The bars in Dallas let out at 2:30 a.m., which gives you plenty of time to get here. They're open until 4 a.m. on the weekends.

ZaLat You'll have to take this one to go, or paint your face with pizza in the parking lot, but ZaLat has you covered if your late-night craving centers on carbs and cheese. Customers can take their pizzas home or have them delivered by sending a simple text. And if your late night vices find you in a haze of pungent smoke, ZaLat has you covered with a large assortment of candy bars and sodas.

Dalat Right next to ZaLat, Dalat serves steaming bowls of pho to sleepy drunks. Dalat is open every day till 2 a.m., so your Monday-night party can go out as strong as your Friday night party. Plus there are egg rolls inside of spring rolls on the menu. Who knew?

Gemma Gemma lends Dallas' late-night-eats scene some elegance, staying open until 1 a.m. Wednesday-Sunday with a shortened version of its regular dinner menu. A pot of pu erh after a night of drinking before bed will send even the worst hangovers packing before they even settle in.

Be glad you live in an era were tacos are served freely into the wee hours and that they are actually good ones. Owner Luis Villalva learned his tricks at the great Revolver Taco in Fort Worth, and Dallas' taco scene is all the better for it.

Nova If you lived close enough to Nova to walk, you'd probably spend a good deal of time there. Most of the people you find on the barstools are from the neighborhood or close to it. Pizza is the go-to order after the kitchen slows down. Nova is open only till midnight, but when you're in Oak Cliff, this is the spot to go.

Sundown You've just finished watching the latest act at the Granada, and there was so much weed in the air pink rabbits dance in the periphery of your tunnel vision. You can't walk, but you can shuffle, which is all you'll need to get to Sundown next door. Open till 1 a.m., Sundown has a casual menu that will help cure what ails you and leave you better prepared for the battle tomorrow morning has in store.

Crushcraft Thai street eats are available at this Uptown spot till 3 a.m. on the weekends, which means you can pass out seconds after polishing off super spicy order of pad Thai. Curries abound as do solid stir fries, making an obvious choice if you want something different from pizza and tacos.

El Paisa Cocina El Paisa Cocina Mexicana, in Northwest Dallas, has you covered until 4 a.m. on the weekends. Order a couple of tacos to get you warmed up, and then a quesadilla with everything to keep you covered until morning. Melted cheese, crunchy lettuce and fresh salsas will have you hunting for this place when the sun is up, too.
