Matt McCallister has announced his second restaurant will open its doors for dinner service on December 7. Cody Sharp has been tasked with running the kitchen and pastry chef Maggie Huff will take charge of sweets.

McCallister's debut FT33 opened in the fall of 2012 and has been widely acclaimed ever since. Known for modern cuisine, a slant for local ingredients and foraging, and cooking willing to push some boundaries in Dallas, the Design District restaurant has become a fixture in the neighborhood.

McCallister first announced Filament this January, with a Main Street address on the edge of Deep Ellum. His second restaurant is to be more casual, but still refined. Photos posted to an Instagram account set up for the restaurant depict a massive wood-burning grill, a smoker and an industrial look for the space.

Ember-roasted onion dip with warm potato chips, trout fritters and Berkshire pork chops are all listed on the coming menu. Desserts skew toward straightforward, at least in description, with pecan pie and a butterscotch banana trifle mentioned in the news release.

The 135-seat restaurant will open its doors next Monday at 5 p.m.
